About the Position
This role will begin as a Payroll Assistant, focusing on supporting payroll operations by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll through the verification and validation of timecards. As knowledge and strong understanding of the process is gained and the company continues to grow, this position will transition into a Payroll Coordinator. This role will be responsible for managing and processing the company's payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, the ability to meet multiple weekly deadlines, and a commitment to handling sensitive information with confidentiality.
Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
Timecard Verification: Review and verify the accuracy of all employee timecards across three platforms, ensuring regular hours, overtime, and time off are compliant with company policies and labor laws.
Payroll Processing: Transition to assume full payroll responsibility to accurately process payrolls for all employees on a regular schedule and ensure timely and accurate payment of wages, bonuses, and other compensation.
Data Management: Accurately enter or update timecard data, including any relevant notes and supporting documentation.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including staying updated on changes in payroll legislation and implementing necessary adjustments.
Reporting: Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management and other departments as needed, including generating year-end reports and other tax-related documents.
Issue Resolution: Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries promptly. Investigate and correct payroll errors per company process.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate employee data and financial reporting.
Auditing: Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures and records to ensure accuracy and compliance. Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge in prevailing wage and certified payroll required
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in multi-state payroll processing.
- Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines on a weekly basis.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.

Compensation
- This is an hourly position based on experience. Pay is negotiable.
