Location: Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar

Compensation: $127,000   

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of fire alarms, mass notification, fire suppression systems to include ANSUL wet chemical systems, backflow prevention, fire hydrant flow testing and marking per NFPA standards in support of base operations.  Reports to the Fire Alarm Technician Lead and works with a team of OM&R Fire Alarm, Suppression, Mass Notification, Fire Hydrants & Backflow Prevention Systems Professionals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Shall inspect, test, maintain, repair, and replace fire alarm systems and mass notification systems (MNS) basewide, to include Fire Department control systems, in a manner that will ensure their serviceability and operation IAW applicable standards and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Shall perform functional operation tests on installed fire detection and alarm systems to ensure that fire alarm systems are operational IAW applicable Unified Facility Codes (UFC), NFPA Standards and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Interpret instruments and meter readings, use wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, and technical publications, use applicable test equipment, enforce safety rules and practices, environmental policies, and principles of management and operation of on-site fire alarm and control systems.
  • Shall review the design to ensure that all NFPA Standards and building construction specifications are met to include applicable National Fire Protection Administration (NFPA) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
  • Follow preventative maintenance plan and maintain records.
  • Responsible for following and implementing work prioritization requirements within provided timelines using automated management systems for all work orders.
  • Responsible for following a comprehensive safety program in compliance with OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas.
  • Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program.
  • Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment and tools).
  • Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional, and mission requirements. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education/Certifications:
  • Mass Notification Technicians shall meet the qualifications required by UFC 4-021-01.
  • Fire Alarm Technicians shall be NICET Level I Certified and have direct experience relating to the installation, maintenance, and testing of fire alarm systems.
  • Must have a current, valid U. S. Passport and Driver’s License.
  • Must have and maintain a valid U. S. SECRET Security Clearance prior to deployment.
  • Must obtain an Air Force flight line driver’s license upon deployment.
  • Must pass a flight line access test and obtain flight line access badge upon deployment.
  • Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug testing and background checks.
  • Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense training.

Experience:

  • Direct experience relating to the management of fire alarm mass notification and suppression system maintenance and testing.                                                                                                                                                              
  • Shall be experienced in implementation and compliance with UFC 4-021-01, Design and O&M Mass Notification Systems
  • Preferred knowledge of UFC 3-601-02, Operations and Maintenance: Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Fire Protection System  

Skills:

  • Must be capable of giving and receiving instructions.
  • Must be fluent reading and speaking English.
  • Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements.
  • Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge and experience working with government contracts preferred.
